Culturally sensitive translations on the subject of abortion
Culturally sensitive translation takes into account people's individual values, needs and cultural influences and enables an appreciative approach. In this way, necessary information can be presented in an understandable and sensitive manner. The glossary of abortion-related terms is intended to draw attention to this shameful issue, which also requires special sensitization with regard to different cultures. As a woman affected, it is often difficult to find understandable and accurate information. Therefore, this project covers some of the terms that are frequently used in the abortion process.
The course “Design and Interdisciplinarity” focuses on the relationship between designers and society. The different contacts that one has as a person should be used as an opportunity for a multi-layered exchange of knowledge. Through various discussions, subsequent reflection and the final concept, the following questions should be deepened and clarified: What does equality actually mean? Do we all have the same opportunities? Is it a utopia to demand equal conditions for all people - regardless of gender, sexual orientation, social and geographical origin?

In dialog with a partner outside of the course (e.g. artist, mediator, social worker, sex worker, philosopher, cultural worker, activist), equality issues should be brought into the public space of the city of Linz. Our project encompasses the field of culturally sensitive translation.
