My short film “Women support Women” shows a sequence of photographs and short video sequences, both staged and spontaneous, depicting two inspiring female personalities from my own environment.
The focus is on a harmonious world of color, strong looks and positions.
It is important to me to address the support that women can give each other. Letting each other shine instead of being in constant competition with each other. You can refer to the “Shine Theory”, coined by the US journalist Ann Friedman. The Shine Theory is a long-term investment in helping someone to be their best self and relying on their help in return. It is a conscious decision to fully engage in friendships and not let insecurity or envy destroy them.
My artistic work, in relation to this theory, is intended to show that a woman should not be seen as competition, but rather as a source of inspiration, friend and support with whom it is better to team up for mutual benefit. Because through collaboration and mutual encouragement, your own self-doubt can fade. As a woman, recognizing differences to other women offers you the opportunity to grow, as you benefit from the interrelationships that prevail among each other.
